Our Story
A Unique gin

This gin is a celebration of some of the best botanicals Vietnam has to offer, black cardamom from the dense jungles in the most Northern part of Vietnam, the rare Buddha’s Hand citrus fruit grown in the capital of Hanoi, Saigon Cinnamon from the Annamite mountain ranges in the central Highlands and Lotus flower from the Mekong Delta. Together with Macedonian Juniper and 9 other local botanicals this makes a remarkable gin.
Saigon Baigur was inspired during many of the founders’ motorcycle trips along the rugged terrains of Vietnam. Having witnessed the incredible diversity in landscapes, cultures, cuisines and herbs in the 2000-kilometer-long country and a passion for gin, the founders decided to bottle something of the extraordinary.
2 years of experimenting resulted in an outspoken gin not like any other: Saigon Baigur, worlds only gin with fresh macerated Buddhas Hand, Vapor infused Lotus Flower and Black Cardamom.
The gin is distilled in Saigon, Vietnam’s most cosmopolitan city. The name Baigur was derived from the first known settlement in this area, a small fish and spice trading outpost. Combined with Saigon, the name Saigon Baigur pays homage to the more than 1000-year-old tradition of spice & botanical trading in the area.
Saigon Baigur takes its symbol from the dragon. Not only does this local mythological creature represent power and prosperity, it also brings rain and therefore the dragon is essential to agriculture and the botanicals used in our gin.
The bottle has been inspired by the scales of the legendary creature. It took over a year to eventually find a glass producer willing to take on this daring project. After several attempts we finally achieved the result we were aiming for: a bottle like no other, for a gin like no other.
Distillery
To ensure consistency and authenticity, we imported a copper pot still handmade in Europe, combining craftsmanship with the highest production quality. The additional Carterhead gives us the possibility to vapour infuse the gin with more delicate botanicals, creating a remarkably smooth gin. Our still happened to be installed during an incredibly stormy day of the city’s annual monsoon season, so it was only appropriate that we called her “Saigon Thunder.” The distillery is the first professional gin distillery in Saigon, and is located in District 9, in the city’s rapidly growing eastern stretches.
